Your privacy rights under California law

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you specific rights over your personal information. This page describes those rights and how to exercise them. It complements our general Privacy Policy; in case of conflict, the rights described here apply for California residents.

§ 01Categories of personal information we collect

Over the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information from California residents:

• Identifiers (name, email, phone if you provide it).
• Customer records (the contents of your intake form and your subscription history).
• Commercial information (purchase history for digital products and subscription).
• Internet activity (limited, aggregate site analytics via Fathom Analytics, which does not collect personal data).
• Sensitive personal information — only if you choose to share it — health-related information about your children and information that may reveal characteristics of a protected classification (such as disability status).

We collect this information from you directly (intake form, account creation, purchases, emails) and from our service providers in the ordinary course of operating the service. We do not buy information about you from data brokers.

§ 02How we use it

We use personal information to provide and improve the curation service, to communicate with you, to process payments, and to meet legal obligations. Specific purposes are described in our Privacy Policy.

§ 03How we share it

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the service (database, email, payment processor, PDF delivery, analytics provider), under contracts that restrict their use of the information to providing services to us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See our separate Do Not Sell or Share page.

§ 04Sensitive personal information

CPRA gives you the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information. The sensitive information you may share with us — information about your child’s learning support needs or medical considerations — is used only to recommend appropriate programs, which is among the purposes permitted by CPRA without a separate limitation. You may, however, ask us at any time to delete this information, and we will do so within 30 days.

§ 05Your CCPA/CPRA rights

As a California resident you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and sold or shared about you over the past 12 months (we have not sold or shared, but you have the right to confirm).
• Receive a copy of the personal information you have given us, in a portable, readily usable format.
• Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (such as completed transactions, fraud prevention, or legal obligations).
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not engage in either).
• Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (as described above).
• Not be retaliated against for exercising your rights.

§ 06How to exercise your rights

Email [email protected] with the subject line “California Privacy Request” and describe what you would like us to do. Include the email address associated with your account so we can verify your identity. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and substantively respond within 45 days (we may extend this by 45 more days if necessary, and will tell you if we need to).

§ 07Authorized agents

You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. We may require proof of the agent’s authorization (such as a signed permission) and may verify your identity directly to confirm the request.

§ 08Verification

To protect your information we verify your identity before fulfilling requests. For most requests this means confirming you control the email address on the account. For requests involving sensitive information we may take additional reasonable steps.

§ 09Notice at collection

At the point where we collect your personal information — the intake form, the sign-up flow, or any other collection point — we provide a notice describing what we collect and why. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.
